75+ Health assessments
There are a range of targeted screening tools that can be used during a 75+ health check to assess cognition and mood. The tools aim to identify signs as to whether a patient requires further investigation.
A sound knowledge of the most common presenting symptoms of the various subtypes of dementia is recommended (cognitive domains).
Appropriate training in the use of screening tools and circumstances for their use as well as understanding the results of screening tests is recommended.
Screening test results (ACAS and CDAMS preferred) are the MMSE and clock drawing test.
Go to Training Resources on the pathway below to access online education of screening tools.
