For patients living in the community and wishing to remain living in the community, short term residential respite care is available in low and high care facilities once an ACAS assessment has been undertaken.
Encourage people with dementia and their carers to have an ACAS assessment so that they can access residential respite.
Residential respite can be a planned break for the carer to go on holiday or it can be used on an emergency basis such as if the carer is ill.
